DirecTV Latin America added 140,000 subscribers in Q218

AT&T announced its financial results for the second quarter. The company reported that DirecTV ended the period with 13.7 million subscribers in Latin America, after recording 140,000 net additions, even with declines in Brazil.
The number of total subscribers in Latin America does not include Sky Mexico (Televisa-AT&T) which at the end of Q218 had about 8 million subscribers. The company does not report the number of clients per country. Its largest operation is in Brazil, where it had 5.21 million subscribers in May (a drop of 294,000 from the same period last year), according to data provided by regulator Anatel.
According to the company, DirecTV Latin America revenues “reflect price increases driven by macroeconomic conditions with generally depreciating local currencies”. Total revenues from the region were USD 1.3 billion, down 7.9% year over year “due primarily to foreign exchange pressures”.
