The decision has been taken by the government today, assuring the public that the extension date for the deadline of the final phase of digital addressable systems for cable TV in India, has been rejected. The final date will thus not be extended further than March 31, 2017.
According to Rajyavardhan Rathore, the Minister of state for Information and broadcasting, the Phase I, II and III of the Cable TV Digitisation was accomplished apart from the Tamil Nadu state. To recall, the final phase was fixed for December 31, back in 2014. It was later extended until December 31, in 2016.
Rathore further stated that the deadline could not be achieved because of extensions granted by some Courts. The previously extended deadline, that is, on January 31, this year, was to give enough time for the transition of subscribers who could not switched to digital signal.
