CNT in talks with GolTV to broadcast soccer matches

Ecuador’s National Telecommunications Corporation (CNT) is in negotiations with GolTV to broadcast the matches of the soccer league, for a period of five years. The companies are defining details of the contract, which would be signed in the coming days, according to El Comercio.
CNT would pay USD 20 million this year to GolTV, that is, USD 4.40 per subscriber per month. The manager of CNT, Andrés Moreno, said that the investment will be paid for by the company and the value will not be transferred to the clients. According to the executive, CNT’s projection is to exceed 600,000 TV subscribers after the five years of the agreement and that the state company becomes a source of income for the State.
Meanwhile, the board of the Ecuadorian Soccer Federation (FEF) is waiting for the results of a report with details of the negotiations with other pay TV operators. This week there will be a meeting at the FEF offices where, among other things, the legal status of the contract with GolTV, which was suspended for 30 days by a judge in Guayaquil, will be reviewed. FEF is already preparing a legal defense, which will be presented this week.
