Cell C, the South African mobile company, has launched its first reality show, thus paving its way in to the content development market. The company, in partnership with Bl!nk Pictures, is introducing #BreakTheNet, an online video reality show.
Jose Dos Santos, the chief executive officer of Cell C, said: “The delivery of content was undergoing dramatic changes in SA as internet access becomes more pervasive. Cell C was taking its first steps into playing a role in the production and delivery of incredible content”.
#BreakTheNet is a talent search show and is, according to dos Santos, is meant to challenge the way in which television content is produced and consumed.
“We feel that the time is right to begin delivering incredible content through new channels. We have specifically designed the Cell C Reality App to enable customers to be able to easily participate and for the rest to view and be part of this exciting new reality show”.
Actually, Cell C, has developed a Cell C Reality App where viewers are able to participate in the show. Prizes and rewards can be expected and viewers will be allowed free data upon using the app.
