Free-to-Air TV channel Chilevision from Chile added to its programming grid the animated cycle Zona Cartoon with contents from Pay-TV children signal Cartoon Network (CN). It is noteworthy that both channels are owned by the US programmer Turner Broadcasting System (TBS, of Time Warner).
Zona Cartoon was released the weekend of March 5th and 6th and will continue its weekly broadcast in the morning time slot. The cycle includes shows such as A Regular Show, Adventure Time, Clarence and Scandalous.
“Chile is a market where our content is very well received and we are very successful. We are very happy to reach even more children with this proposal and to amplify the Cartoon Network entertainment experience through the Chilevision screen”, stated Senior VP and General Manager of CN, Boomerang and Tooncast for Latin America, Barry Koch, to local website La Nacion.
Cartoon Network was the Pay-TV channel with bigger audiences in Latin America during 2015, according to ratings company Kantar Ibope. TBS bought Chilevision, his only Free-to-Air TV signal, in August 2010 from Bancard, the company of former national President Sebastian Piñera. TBS also has in the region CNN, CNN in Spanish, HLN, TNT, TNT Series, Space, TCM, I-Sat, TruTV, TBS Very Funny, Glitz*, HTV and MuchMusic channels.
