Canal 13 launches eSports tournament in Chile

Chilean broadcaster Canal 13 launched the Claro Gamer Cup, an eSports tournament for Pro Evolution Soccer (PES 2018) players. The event will have multiplatform coverage and the final will be played on July 28.
The channel opened the call that extends until Thursday 31. It will select 256 participants who will seek to reach the regular phase, which will be played in a “round robin” format at the Canal 13 facilities, on June 16, 23 and 30 and July 7, 14 and 21. According to a statement, the champion will win USD 5,000, the second place USD 2,000 and the third place USD 1,000.
“This type of projects focused on eSports opens possibilities for us to explore new business areas, diversifying our content offer to our traditional customers but also, opening ourselves to other players in the industry,” said Norman Varas, head of digital marketing at Canal 13.
