Cablevisión launches DTH with more HD channels in Uruguay

Cablevision Uruguay

Cablevisión has launched the satellite TV service in the cities of Montevideo, Canelones and San José in Uruguay. This move allows the company to offer more HD channels. As part of the launch, the operator is offering for free the HD package, as well as access to local soccer matches, for a period of two years.
Earlier this year, the Uruguayan government decided – through a decree – to free up the UHF system in the 512 MHz band and migrate the operators – in this case Cablevisión – to DTH.
Cablevisión said this change allows it to expand its channel programming. The new satellite product has 45 channels in HD. With the launch promotion, customers will pay URU$ 995 (USD 31) per month (after a free month trial) for two years. Cablevisión already had a small DTH operation in the interior of the country in Uruguay, but now it has extended the reach of this technology.
“We are proud to launch our satellite product, as it is another example of the renewal process we have undertaken in 2017,” commented Guillermo Valente, Cablevisión Uruguay manager. “First we launched Flow, which allowed us to reach our customers with an next-generation TV, with an access format that gives them more freedom both for their navigability and functionalities as well as for the quantity and quality of content. The satellite service, in addition to technologically update the offer, will provide more and greater coverage as well ease and speed in the installation”.
