The Association of Cable Operators of the Interior has filed a lawsuit against the Paraguayan National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) for grating Tigo the license to operate DTH services, Última Hora reported.
According to the members of the cable association, the Paraguayan regulator, chaired by Teresita Palacios, did not carry out a rigorous analysis on the impact that the decision to grant the license to Tigo would have in the market, since the company has a dominant position In the TV service and should not have received that authorization.
The Paraguayan cable operators filed a lawsuit in the Court of Auditors. Now, the regulator must respond about it.
Tigo received its DTH license by the end of 2016. The company plans to launch the service during the first quarter this year. Meanwhile, the company has already completed the purchase of several cable operators.
