Brazil’s Oi rolls out Android TV STB

Brazilian company Oi launched a streaming STB based on Android TV, named ‘Streaming Box’, which includes the operator’s own OTT Oi Play, as well as others like Netflix, YouTube and ESPN. The STB is also available to consumers who are not customers of Oi services and costs about R$ 480 (USD 116).

The STB was built by Brazilian company Elsys, and has already been approved by Brazil´s telecommunications regulator, Anatel. It also has a remote control capable of answering user’s voice commands through Google Assistant.

Oi’s Streaming Box also supports 4K resolution and includes the ISDB-T standard, which allows digital TV channels reception. In addition, Elsys also provides satellite receivers for the Oi TV Livre product, which also provides access to Oi Play.
