South African Mixed Martial Arts, Brave Combat Federation announced this week a new broadcast deal with Johannesburg-based Scuffle Media. This will see their live events broadcast on the StarSat platform across the continent and a digital streaming service with Vodacom solely in South Africa. It already increases an impressive offering of MMA on StarSat and joins Vodacom’s current partnership with Fightstar.
Jason van Schalkwyk from Scuffle Media said, “It’s a landmark deal for African MMA fans and we’re really excited to be bringing global combat sports to Africa, and we’ll start with bringing all the action from Jordan on the 2nd of March.”
The deal seems particularly well-timed since ‘Brave 10 – The Kingdom Rises’ has two South African fighters competing on the card, rising star Chad Hanekom (4-0) is looking to make a massive impact on the Middleweight division with a victory over Russia’s Ikram Aliskerov (4-0) whilst SBG Dublin-based Frans Mlambo (4-2) is up against Brazil’s Felipe Efrain, the latter claiming recently that he will “run through” Mlambo.
