Bolivia to switch off analogue TV in 2019

The President of the Authority for the Regulation and Control of Telecommunications and Transport (ATT), Roy Méndez, said that in November 2019, the analogue switch-off will take place in La Paz, El Alto, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz.

According to La Jornada, the executive also said that they are holding meetings with television companies to clear questions about the process and coordinate “a way to work together to make it a success.”

On the other hand, the director of the Bolivian Space Agency (ABE in Spanish), Iván Zambrana, reported that they are negotiating with local TV stations for the extension of the coverage of their digital signal through the Túpac Katari satellite.

According to Zambrana, between January and August this year, Tupac Katari’s services generated around USD 16 million, and that figure is expected to reach USD 25 million by the end of this administration.
