Bolivia prepares for DTT

Bolivia’s vice-minister of Telecommunications, Gustavo Pozo, said that the deadline for free-to-air channels to begin their DTT transmissions expires at the end of June.
According to Pozo, all VHF channels must start the transition until the end of this month, reported Prensa Latina. The official said there were delays in Customs in the entry of imported equipment and this caused delays in the implementation of digital TV.
The vice minister said that currently there are 14 requests of TV channels that want to start digital transmissions. Once they initiate simultaneous transmissions, the channels must progressively eliminate their analog signal. The switch-off in Bolivia is scheduled for November 2019, initially in the cities of La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz. For the rest of the country it will be in 2025.
