AT&T to launch new DirecTV OTT in Q4 2019

AT&T announced that DirecTV’s full catalog will be available in streaming format from the last quarter of the year and, according to John Donovan, CEO of the company, the measure promises to ‘radically transform’ the TV industry. He also said that the new product will be ‘really disruptive’ in terms of features and capabilities

According to official information developed by the company, DirecTV’s catalog will be taken to clients through an IP connection, and will also leave the traditional antenna to start operating through an Android TV STB.

This change is part of the strategy that AT&T started developing at the end of 2018, when Donovan himself announced that DirecTV would stop buying satellites to abandon the distribution network’s traditional methods such as cable and DTH, and turn to the OTT format.
