Argentina’s telecommunications company Iplan is expanding its fiber optic network and plans to start offering TV services in 2019 through agreements with third parties. “For now we will only offer Internet connectivity, but we want to add an IPTV service,” Iplan’s CEO Damián Maldini told iProfesional.
During 2018, the company will continue to focus on expanding its infrastructure, which already covers 110,000 homes. The company expects to reach 300,000 home passed by the end of the year. For this initiative, Iplan is investing AR$ 500 million (USD 25.1 million). Currently, the deployment is focused in the northern area of the City of Buenos Aires, in Recoleta, Palermo and Belgrano neighborhoods.
By 2019, once the services are mature, the company plans to add television to its offer, in association with one or several content providers, said Maldini. Meanwhile, Iplan will start next March a more aggressive commercial strategy through iPlan Liv, which will increase its connection speed from 100 mbps to 250 mbps and from 500 mbps to 1Gb.
