Tamil Nadu´s state run Arasu cable TV has cautioned the state´s cable operators who are collecting excess fee beyond the prescribed USD 1.29 per month. It is said that the official press release said that the corporation was offering 90 to 100 channels including FTA, pay and local at affordable rates as prescribed by the government.
This move from Arasu cable is owing to the fact that the cable operators are collecting excess fees from the people. The customers are also given preference to remit the monthly subscription through online or through challan payment.
Arasu cable has come forward to collect the subscription fee through online to avoid cable operators who are collecting fees between USD 1.85 to USD 2.77 as against the fee of USD 1.29 as suggested by the government. However cable TV operators opposed this move. Recently the proposal of Tamil Nadu Arasu cable TV to collect monthly cable TV fee through online was stayed by the state high court.
