Amazon reportedly working on a streaming service for Fire TV devices

Amazon is planning to launch a free, ad-supported video service for users of its Fire TV streaming devices, people familiar with the situation told The Information.
The service could be called Free Dive and will operate independently of Amazon Prime Video, the company´s SVOD platform, which is also available in Latin America. According to The Information, there are currently around 48 million users of Fire TV devices.
In this way, the concept would be similar to Roku Channel, which offers free content, with advertising, on Roku streaming devices. The report said Amazon is licensing older TV shows from major studios for its new service.
The Information also highlights that Amazon is beefing up advertising in sports broadcasts in Europe and in NFL games in the United States, which demonstrates the growing importance of advertising as a source of income.
