Amazon readies global streaming launch

Amazon will soon expand its streaming video service – Amazon Prime Video – globally, people familiar with the matter said to The Wall Street Journal.  With this decision, Amazon takes aim at Netflix, which already has a presence in more than 190 countries.

A few days ago, the hosts of Amazon’s show “The Grand Tour”, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond said in a video that the show will be available globally from December, which gave the first clues about the expansion of the platform to other countries.

Currently, Amazon Prime Video is available in the United States, UK, Germany, Austria, Japan and soon India. According to what the sources told The Wall Street Journal, Amazon will expand its service to about 200 countries.

This way, other Amazon’s original series such as “Transparent”, “Mozart in the Jungle” and “The New Yorker Presents” will arrive soon to other countries.
