The agreement has been sealed between the United Arab Emirates Pro League Committee (PLC), which is the organising body of football leagues of the UAE, and Abu Dhabi and Dubai Sports channels. It is a three-year deal, giving the rights to broadcast live games from the Arabian Gulf League and associated competitions.
The PLC renewed the sale of its television broadcasting rights for 255M AED (69.42M USD). The Abu Dhabi broadcast arm LIVE, has been contracted by the PLC for the Arabian Gulf League, Arabian Gulf Cup, Arabian Gulf Super Cup and the U21 League for the three coming years.
Abdullah Naser Al Junaibi, the chairman of the PLC and vice chairman of the UAE Football Association: “It is another positive step in the history of professional football in our nation, having begun our broadcasting relationship with Abu Dhabi and Dubai Sports Channels more than eight years ago”.
On the other hand, HE Mohamed Ebraheem Al Mahmood, the chairman and managing director of Abu Dhabi Media, commented: “As part of our clear plan and wise leadership towards the aim of improving the standard of football, we must acknowledge and accept that encryption is part of the language of football and is an important component to achieving future success”.
Elsewhere, Rashid Amiri, the director of Dubai Sports Channels, said that: “The partnership of Dubai Sports and Abu Dhabi Sports Channels would provide the best possible viewing content for the fans watching on screen”.
