As announced during an exclusive interview with NexTv India in November, Tata Sky, the Indian DTH operator has made its streaming service, ‘Everywhere TV’, free for its subscribers. Tata Sky earlier charged users INR 60(US$ 0.90) per month for the same service.
Users can stream TV channels on the go through Everywhere TV on the official Tata Sky app. The service will feature channels subscribed by the viewers on the Tata Sky connection. Everywhere TV’ allows Tata Sky subscribers to stream over 80 channels on the direct-to-home (DTH) operator’s app. Viewers can also set the video quality on low, medium and high and the app runs smoothly on both 3G and 4G networks.
However, so far subscribers needed to pay an extra of INR 60 (US$ 0.90) per month to access the service. While Netflix services is available free for a one-month trial and will then charge between INR 500 – 800 (US$ 7.49- 11.98) for its three packages. Tata Sky reacted to the entry of Netflix in India and declared that its Everywhere TV service free for users.
The ‘Everywhere TV’ service of Tata Sky was launched by Tata Sky in October 2013. The app can be accessed on up to two devices per subscriber ID. It also offers Hindi as well as English content including entertainment, news, sports, etc.
